Is there a way to delete all posts on my Facebook wall but keep the current account active?

With more and more professional relations wanting to befriend me on Facebook, I need to clean up the Facebook profile and delete many (or all) previous postings. Is there a way to remove all previous posts while keeping the account active? I know how to block people from seeing my postings, but they are starting to ask about having been blocked....what to do...
