"govt" vs. "springfield"....?

What's the dif? I got a line on these 2 beauty Scandinavian Mauser 98k converted from 8mm to .30-06 'govt'...just wondering/hoping that "Govt" and "Springfield" are the same, ie: will these rifles effectively shoot modern .30-06 Springfield ammunition? Can't find any literature on-line, and I DO remember seeing old .30-06 govt br at the gun smiths shop...
