Why do church need paid clergy, I thought Christ came to deliver us from these folks..?

My church has been pastorless for some time, and I love it. I have been so blessed by the ministry of the speakers we have brought in. We have way more members who participate in the services, and its the most loving church that I have ever attended. Recenly, the leadership has committed to hire a full time pastor and I fear that we are going this direction because of tradition and not because it is God's will for his church. I feel that God has laid something on my heart about this.. if we all come into our spiritual gifts the traditional church hierarchy isn't necessary, in fact because hierarchy is of flesh and not spirit this will actually hinder us from discovering the tasks that God has laid out for us to finish, I would like some comments on this..
